Our Vision & Mission

vision

Nurture

We provide a safe and secure physical, mental, and social space to allow our children to grow and develop at their own pace. It is important to us to ensure that we remain fully present in our interactions with the children (both verbally and non-verbally), validating their feelings, providing physical affection and comfort when sought, laughing, and playing games that promote healthy growth and development.

Learn & Play

Children play to make sense of the world around them, and to find meaning in an experience by connecting it to something already known. Through play children can develop social and cognitive skills, mature emotionally and gain the self confidence required to engage in new experiences and environments.

HEALTHY EATING

Mealtimes are an important time for children to socialise and learn healthy, positive habits around healthy eating. We eat our breakfast, snack, lunch and tea together at Brownberrie Lane.

Breakfast is provided and consists of a variety of cereals, fruit, toast or a themed breakfast throughout the year.

A mid-morning snack is provided and can range from toast, fruit, cheese, crackers, crumpets, veg sticks, and hummus to a themed snack such as Chinese-inspired foods at the Lunar new year or pancakes for pancake day etc.

Lunch is provided by parents in the form of a healthy packed lunch, following our healthy eating policy. At specific points throughout the year, all the children experience themed lunches such as Christmas lunch, fish and chips in the summer, afternoon tea picnics etc.

An afternoon snack is a light snack such as breadsticks or fruit.

Tea is provided and consists of a healthy home-cooked meal. Each meal is accompanied by a range of vegetables and caters to all dietary requirements. The menu is provided in the corridor and changes weekly according to seasonal produce and variety. The teatime choices can range from traditional cooked meals such as casseroles, roast dinner, shepherd’s pie, and fish pie to pasta dishes, curries, and pizzas. Pudding is provided with a fruit alternative.

We cater for all dietary needs and allergies. Please make us aware of any specific requirements on admission.

Water is provided throughout the day and all children are encouraged to bring their own water bottle. Due to our healthy eating policy, diluted juices are not offered nor accepted in our setting. Milk and alternative milks are offered alongside each meal and snack time.
